Police appeal for information and CCTV footage after man dies in explosion in house near Milton Keynes

Police are appealing for witness information and CCTV footage following a explosion in Newton Longville in which a man died.

The appeal relates to an incident that happened last Sunday (9/8) at around 9.45am, when emergency services were called to Cobb Hall Road after reports of an explosion, fire and collapse of a property.

Stephen Woodward, 67, was taken to hospital where he was receiving treatment for his injuries but sadly, he has since died.

Lead Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Philip Turner-Robson said, “We have been conducting a thorough investigation following last Sunday’s explosion, and our thoughts remain with Stephen’s family and loved ones at this tragic and difficult time.

“We want to be clear that we are exploring all lines of enquiry in relation to this incident, including the time leading up to the explosion.

“And, as part of our investigation with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), I am appealing to anyone who was in the Cobb Hall Road area before the explosion, and anyone who may have anything to help our enquiries, to come forward.

“I also want to hear from anybody who may have dash-cam footage, CCTV, doorbell footage or any other recordings from the area from midnight onwards that could assist our enquiries.

“No matter how insignificant it may seem, any information could prove vital to our investigation as we establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.”
