Fire crews attend situation after waste fire in Milton Keynes

Fire crews attended a waste fire that involved a substantial amount of domestic waste at a site in Milton Keynes.

Crews responded to a fire at a waste site involving an estimated 50 to 100 tonnes of domestic waste in the Bleak Hall area of the city that broke out at around 2:35am this morning (11/08).

At the height of the incident, a total of six fire engines, a turntable ladder, a water carrier, an aerial ladder platform and several officers attended.

Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus, four main jets, a turntable ladder to tackle the fire.

Bucks Fire and Rescue said that officers will remain on scene for considerable amount of time, continuing to damp down hotspots, turn over waste materials and monitor environmental conditions.
