Willen Hospice Midday Moo

If you're looking for a great excuse to get outdoors this autumn while supporting an incredible local charity, the Willen Hospice Midday Moo could be just the event for you.

Horizon Radio is proud to be supporting this year's walk, which takes place on Saturday 11 October 2026 and promises a fun-filled day with plenty of community spirit, beautiful scenery and the chance to help raise vital funds for Willen Hospice.

A walk everyone can enjoy

The Midday Moo is the daytime version of the much-loved Midnight Moo, but instead of setting off in the middle of the night, you'll start at 12 noon from Milton Keynes Rugby Club.

You can choose between a 5-mile or 10-mile route, both taking you through some of Milton Keynes' picturesque parks and lakes, which should be looking particularly beautiful in their autumn colours.

It's designed to be a relaxed and enjoyable event rather than a race, so you can walk at your own pace, enjoy the scenery and spend time with friends and family along the way.

There will be two pit stops where you can grab a complimentary drink, have a rest and recharge before continuing your walk.

If you're aged 12 or over, you're welcome to take part, and if you've got a well-behaved dog on a lead, they can come along too.

Plenty to look forward to

Your day begins with a complimentary breakfast roll to help fuel you before you head off, and there'll be music, entertainment and a fantastic atmosphere both before the walk and when you return.

Whether you're walking on your own, with friends, family or colleagues, it's a brilliant way to spend the day while supporting a cause that touches thousands of local lives every year.

Every step helps local families

Willen Hospice needs to raise £9.6 million every year to continue providing its specialist care and support across Milton Keynes and the surrounding area.

The hospice doesn't just care for patients – it also supports families and carers through some of the most difficult times of their lives.

One of those carers is Davida, whose husband Jake has cerebral palsy. After saving his life by performing CPR following a cardiac arrest at home, Davida found herself struggling to cope with the pressures of caring for him.

She began attending activities run by Willen Hospice's Therapeutic and Wellbeing team, which helped her find the support she desperately needed.

Reflecting on the difference the hospice made, she said:

"I was at the point of breakdown. I was left all on my own and I didn't know what to do. Willen Hospice saved my life."

It's stories like Davida's that show exactly why fundraising events such as the Midday Moo matter so much.

Set yourself a fundraising challenge

Your entry fee, which starts from £25, covers the cost of running the event, so Willen Hospice is encouraging everyone to set themselves a sponsorship target.

If you're taking part on your own, why not aim to raise £100? If you're entering as a team, a target of £300 would make a huge difference.

As a thank you, if you raise more than £150, you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Brasserie Blanc voucher. The highest fundraising team will also receive a hamper to enjoy together.

Sign up early and save

Registration opens on Saturday 18 July, and if you're quick you'll be able to take advantage of a £5 Early Bird discount, available until Friday 24 July.

So whether you're looking for a new challenge, a fun day out with family and friends or simply want to support one of Milton Keynes' most important charities, why not lace up your walking shoes and get involved?

Keep listening to Horizon Radio as we proudly support this fantastic community event in the lead-up to the big day.
