MK Dons continue pre-season prep with single goal friendly defeat by Spurs

MK Dons continued their pre-season work with a 1-0 defeat by Premier League side Spurs in a friendly played behind closed doors.

One goal decided a match played at Spurs’ training ground, with new Spurs signing Matheus Fernandes scoring a long-range strike in the early stages.

The Dons did have a smattering of chances against a Spurs side playing in their first friendly ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, but were unable to stop the side from North London from taking the victory.

Chances the Dons created saw Martin Dubravka in the Spurs goal deny second half chances by Callum Paterson and Ben Wiles, while the Dons also a goal from youngster Brooklyn Kazungu disallowed for a foul on the Slovakian keeper.

MK Dons will continue their pre-season preparations with two friendlies on Saturday. Part of the squad will play a friendly against a currently undisclosed Premier League side, also behind closed doors, while the other will play a public-facing friendly against lower league side Wealdstone.

Friendlies against Cheltenham and Barnet are also lined up before the Dons play their first competitive game of the season against Norwich in the Carabao Cup on August 8.
