The National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes has been reaccredited as a UK Sport Elite Training Centre.

Reaccreditation for the site in MK is recognition of the centre’s role in supporting Olympic and Paralympic athletes to achieve success on the world stage.

In 2023, The National Badminton Centre was named as one of just eight sites which formed the inaugural cohort of Elite Training Centres.

Alongside Loughborough University, the University of Bath, Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre and Manchester’s National Taekwondo Centre, Aquatics Centre and the National Cycling Centre, the Milton Keynes based National Badminton Centre has been reaccredited as part of the UK Sport network of ETCs.

The National Badminton Centre said that they will now continue to work collaboratively with other centres across the United Kingdom to support a connected and high-performing system, enabling athletes to access the environments and expertise they need to succeed.

That pool of accredited sites now also includes the University of Wolverhampton, St George’s Park (The Football Association), Sport Scotland’s National Sports Training Centre in Inverclyde and the Lee Valley White Water Centre.

To achieve UK Sport accreditation, centres must demonstrate excellence across areas including facilities, people, partnerships and athlete support, alongside a clear commitment to continuous improvement. And together, these centres form a connected network of high performance environments across the UK, supporting athletes on a daily basis with access to world-class facilities, expertise and support services.

This network of centres plays a vital role in the UK’s high performance system, creating environments that bring together people, expertise and facilities to drive performance and support sustained Olympic and Paralympic success.

Badminton England said, “We are incredibly proud to be reaccredited as a UK Sport Elite Training Centre and we look forward to continuing to work closely with UK Sport and partners across the system to build on our successes and support future generations of athletes.”

Dr Kate Baker, Director of Performance & People at UK Sport, said, “Our Elite Training Centres are at the heart of the UK’s high performance system. They are where athletes and teams do the hard work every day, supported by outstanding people and expertise.

“We are incredibly grateful to work with our Elite Training Centres to inspire the nation and make the public proud. Together we are shaping the greatest decade of extraordinary sporting moments and ETCs play a vital role in making this vision a reality, creating thriving environments where sports, athletes and coaches can perform at their best. We’re excited to continue this journey with them, driving success and inspiring the nation.”
