Parks Trust in MK voice disappointment as Tree of Hope sapling damaged by vandals

The Parks Trust in Milton Keynes voiced their disappointment after a sapling from the Tree of Hope was damaged by vandals.

The Tree of Hope sapling was recovered from a tree at the Sycamore Gap in Northumberland, which was illegally chopped down in 2023. 49 saplings were recovered by the National Trust and planted across the United Kingdom.

The sapling that was given to Milton Keynes was planted in Stanton Low Park in MK earlier this year.

In a statement on social media, the Parks Trust voiced their disappointment to report of damage to the tree and its surrounding fence.

They said, “We are disheartened to share that The Tree of Hope, and surrounding paling fence, in Stanton Low Park have been damaged.

“The Sycamore Gap sapling has now been pruned by our team who’ll continue to monitor the tree’s growth.

“If anyone witnessed the damage taking place or has information, please support us by reporting it to the police via 101.”
