MK Dons wrapped up their pre-season schedule with a 2-0 win against Cheltenham Town in Gloucestershire.

Second half goals by Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Aaron Collins saw the Dons take the victory at the EV Charger Points Stadium, in a result that concludes their programme.

The match also saw the Dons have an encounter against ex-Dons man Joe Tomlinson, who joined Cheltenham after being released by the Dons at the end of last season.

Mendez-Laing grabbed an opening goal just after half-time with a curling strike, before Collins grabbed a second for the visitors just before the hour with a strike that flew beyond Cheltenham keeper Wyll Stanway.

MK Dons’ season will begin in the Carabao Cup First Round as per a reshuffle by the EFL for this season. They will head to play Championship side Norwich at Carrow Road next Saturday (08/08). Their league season will start with an away match at Oxford United one week later.

In their pre-season warm-ups ahead of their return to League One, the Dons beat Maidenhead United 4-1, lost 2-1 away at Croatian side Istra, lost 1-0 in a behind-closed-doors contest against Spurs, were beaten 3-0 by Arsenal in a behind-closed-doors encounter, lost 2-0 at Wealdstone, played out a 0-0 draw with Barnet and beat Kuwait SC 1-0 in a game also behind-closed-doors.
