Red Bull took a minor points finish from the sprint race at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, as Max Verstappen finished 6th while Isack Hadjar failed to score points.
Verstappen had been involved in a lengthy yo-yo racing battle with George Russell, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris but ultimately finished behind all three, while Hadjar failed to make up the places after losing ground at the start.
The results saw Verstappen pick up 3 points after finishing 6th, taking him up to 76 points for the 2026 season so far. Teammate Hadjar remains on 42 points.
In the first of two races over the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone, Red Bull had started with Verstappen in third and hoping to challenge Lewis Hamilton and Andrea Kimi Antonelli on the front row.
It wouldn’t pan out that way, however, with Verstappen and teammate Hadjar both falling down the order as they made slow starts.
Initially, Verstappen dropped from third to sixth, but the Dutchman would quickly recalibrate and he would end up back into fourth, with the Red Bull in a position to try and fight Lando Norris for the final podium place.
As the race wore on, however, Verstappen succumbed to having worse tyre wear than the two cars behind, allowing Russell and Leclerc back past.
Hadjar, meanwhile, had been able to get back through the pack to challenge for the final point scoring position of 8th, but he would hit a roadblock in the form of Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson.
Hadjar’s former teammate would prove too robust a barrier to overcome, with one close duel in the final stages of the race seeing the duo get very close. The incident would be raised for the stewards, but Lawson would get away with a warning rather than any penalties.
It meant no points for the Frenchman, with Red Bull now turning their attention to the next race to see what they can get from the full distance British Grand Prix tomorrow (05/07).
Saturday evening’s qualifying session saw Hadjar outqualify Verstappen, with the Frenchman finishing 5th and Verstappen 7th for the full-distance race at Silverstone.
