Northampton Town have confirmed Cameron McGeehan and Nesta Guinness-Walker will leave the club after talks over new contracts failed to reach an agreement.
The duo had both been offered contract extensions at Sixfields, but the club confirmed they had failed to reach an agreement to keep the duo at Sixfields for the Cobblers’ upcoming season in League 2 and both are now free to leave.
McGeehan and Guiness-Walker joined the exodus from Sixfields, following the likes of Lee Burge, Kyle Edwards, Tom Eaves, Michael Jacobs, Jordan Willis and Jack Vale in leaving Northampton.
Both players leave after 2 years with Northampton. McGeehan had scored 18 in 82 appearances after joining Northampton from Colchester, while Guinness-Walker leaves after playing over 70 times in his time at the club.
In a statement, Cobblers Manager Chris Hogg said, “Both Nesta and Cam have been excellent servants to this club over the last two years and we part on good terms with both. We wish both of them well and every success with their future careers.
“We spoke with both players, but as discussions weren’t aligned, we have taken the decision to move on.
“I want players who are fully committed to the club moving forward, and that will be our consistent approach with everyone we speak to.”
