Luton's Millenic Alli leaves club to sign for Charlton Athletic

Luton Town winger Millenic Alli has left the club to join Championship outfit Charlton Athletic.

The 26-year-old has moved to the London-based side for an undisclosed fee, with Charlton confirming Alli has signed a four-year deal at The Valley. He becomes Charlton’s fifth new signing of the summer transfer window.

Alli had joined Luton in January 2025 from Exeter City, scoring 5 in 38 appearances for the Hatters. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Portsmouth, making 21 appearances to help Pompey preserve their Championship status.

Speaking to the official Charlton Athletic website, Alli voiced his delight to make the move.

He said, “I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to get started, have a good time and show what I can do.

“The club’s goals are the exact same as mine, so we’re really trying to push this season and do the best we can. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at The Valley and get them cheering and on their feet.

“You can expect pace, power, directness and goals – skills too!”

The move sees Alli become the latest player with Luton connections to join Charlton under the management of ex-Hatters boss Nathan Jones, albeit this time being a player who did not play for Luton while Jones was manager at Kenilworth Road.

In a statement, Luton said, “The Republic of Ireland international now moves back to the Championship on a permanent basis, with our thanks for his efforts in a Luton shirt and best wishes for his future career.”
