Police confirm arrest made in investigation with sexual offences investigation in Milton Keynes

Police have arrested a man in connection with sexual offences that occurred inside a supermarket in Milton Keynes.

A member of the public reported that a man exposed himself and committed a sexual activity in the presence of a child inside the Aldi store in Winchester Circle in the Kingston area of the city at about 6pm on Friday evening (17/07).

Thames Valley Police confirmed that on Saturday afternoon (18/7), a 45-year-old man from Northamptonshire was arrested.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Siobhan Jones said, “These offences have understandably caused shock and distress to those involved as well as the wider community.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation and this afternoon we have arrested a man in Northamptonshire. This man is currently in police custody, where he will be questioned in relation to the offences.

“However, we still need your help to gather more evidence.

“If you were in the store at the time, have footage or any information in relation to these offences and haven’t already spoken to the police, I would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.

“We particularly want to hear from a couple who we believe witnessed the offences and informed the child’s parents.

“You can leave your information via our website or call 101, quoting investigation reference 43260367268.

“We are aware that members of the public have published images from the scene on social media, with the intention of identifying the offender.

“Now we have a suspect in custody, we would please urge the public to delete these images and not to post any such images on social media. This is because it may impact our investigation or prejudice any future court proceedings.

“We thank our communities for their understanding and support while we carry out our investigation.”
