Police confirm arrest made as investigation into Milton Keynes murder continues

Police have confirmed a man from Milton Keynes has been arrested as they continue their investigation into a murder in the city.

The update was provided by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit with regards to the events of May 24th, when a woman in her 50s was found deceased in a property in the Wolverton area of the city.

A 58-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of murder on the same day of the event, with police confirming that he has now been detained under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act.

The incident happened around 6pm on May 24th, when officers attended a property in East Moor Drive in Wolverton Mill following reports made to us around a concern for welfare.   

Officers attended the address and sadly found a woman in her fifties deceased inside the property.  

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Will Crowther said, “Today, I am able to provide an update into this tragic murder investigation in which a woman in her fifties has lost her life.  

“Formal identification has not yet taken place; however, we will provide a further public update once this has been confirmed.  

“The victim’s next of kin are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, and our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time. The family have asked for their privacy to be respected.  

“We have a dedicated team of officers working on this investigation. They are carrying out enquiries at the scenewatch which remains in place at the property on East Moor Drive. There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area. 

“A 58-year-old man from Milton Keynes, who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, has now been detained under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act. We want to reassure the community that we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
