Milton Keynes-born football star Antonee Robinson named in American World Cup squad

The Milton Keynes-born football star Antonee Robinson has been named in the United States’ squad for the upcoming World Cup.

The 28-year-old left-back, who plays his club football for Premier League side Fulham, is one of 5 Premier League players named by former Spurs, PSG and Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino in his squad for the USA ahead of a World Cup they will be co-hosting with Mexico and Canada.

Robinson will be looking to add to his 52 caps for the USMNT, which included playing for the team in all 4 matches at the last World Cup in Qatar in 2022. He played as the US finished second behind England in their group, but lost to the Netherlands in the first knockout round.

The defender, who has been nicknamed “Jedi”, was born in Milton Keynes but grew up in Liverpool after moving north as a child. He has played for Fulham since 2020 after signing from Wigan Athletic and has made over 200 appearances for the West London club in all competitions. Robinson scored his first Premier League goal against Wolves in the final weeks of the just-concluded season.

America are in Group D for the tournament and they start their World Cup schedule against Paraguay in Los Angeles, in a match that will take place in the early hours of the morning on June 13th UK time. They then face Australia on June 19th in Seattle before taking on Turkey in Los Angeles in the early hours of June 26th.
