Luton Town were beaten 1-0 at home by Dutch outfit Go Ahead Eagles in the last of their pre-season friendlies.
One goal was enough to decide the game, with Stefan Sigudarson scoring the only goal for the visitors midway through the first half.
The visitors had various opportunities through the contest, as well as having a penalty initially awarded before being overturned, but there was no way through for Jack Wilshere’s side.
The result was Luton’s last ahead of next weekend’s season opener, which will see Luton play Gillingham away from home in the First Round of the Carabao Cup next Saturday (08/08). The Hatters’ league opener sees them visit Reading a week later.
Defeat was the only one sustained by Luton during their pre-season programme. The Hatters had previously managed 5-0 wins over Hitchin Town and Walsall, won 2-0 against Saudi side Al-Kholod in a friendly played in Spain, drew 2-2 with Barnet and saw a youthful side beat Go Ahead Eagles’ reserve side 4-1 on Saturday.
