A man in his twenties is fighting for his life in hospital following a serious assault in Central Milton Keynes during the early hours of Sunday morning (1 November).

Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation after officers were called to Midsummer Boulevard, close to The Hub, shortly after 1.50am on Sunday.

Police were alerted by South Central Ambulance Service following reports that a man had been assaulted.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he was reported to be in a critical condition.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with information or footage that could help establish exactly what happened.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police said: "Our thoughts are with the victim and his loved ones at this extremely difficult time."

Police have acknowledged the concerns of residents, businesses and visitors following the incident and confirmed that enquiries are underway to identify those responsible.

An increased police presence has been arranged in and around The Hub while the investigation continues, with neighbourhood officers available to speak to members of the public.

The incident caused significant disruption on Sunday, with parts of The Hub closed while officers carried out their enquiries. Visitors are advised to check with individual businesses for the latest opening arrangements.

Police appeal for witnesses

Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Midsummer Boulevard or The Hub between 1am and 2am on Sunday morning.

Officers are asking anyone with mobile phone footage, dashcam recordings or CCTV footage from nearby businesses and properties to come forward.

They would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed suspicious activity in the area.

Police say even seemingly minor details could prove important to the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101 or submit a report through the force's website, quoting reference 43260570882.
