The Parks Trust has won Community Business of the Year at the SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards.
The Parks Trust, the charity caring for MK’s green spaces, won Community Business of the Year at the SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards! The recognition celebrates the charity’s community-focused approach to caring for Milton Keynes’ parks, lakes and woodlands, and its commitment to accessibility, inclusion and long‑term sustainability.
Winning Community Business of the Year reflects the charity’s unique model and its positive impact across Milton Keynes and beyond. As an independent charity, the Trust’s wide-ranging work caring for more than 6,000 acres of green spaces is funded by revenue from its property portfolio and commercial investments rather than council taxes.
The judges were impressed by the Trust’s leadership in accessible parks, particularly its award‑winning Access Ambassadors initiative, an extensive programme of outdoor learning, volunteering and more than 500 events in the parks each year. The Parks Trust not only maintain and provide amazing green spaces for nature and people but proudly bring together MK’s diverse communities through outdoor activity and celebration.
Victoria Miles, Chief Executive of The Parks Trust says: “Winning this award is testament to the dedication, creativity and passion of our staff, volunteers and partners. Our mission is to care for Milton Keynes’ parks for everyone, forever. This award recognises not just what we do, but how we do it – by putting people, accessibility, and long‑term stewardship at the heart of everything.”
As the regional Gold Winner for Community Business of the Year, The Parks Trust have successfully reached the finals of the SME National Business Awards later this year!
The Parks Trust cares for more than 6,000 acres of parks, lakes, river valleys and woodlands across Milton Keynes, enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout the year. As the city grows, the charity will continue to take on new green spaces and invest in nature, inclusion and community connection, ensuring Milton Keynes remains one of the greenest cities in the UK.
