Police have launched a murder investigation following a death in Milton Keynes yesterday (24/5) evening.

The investigation’s opening relates to an incident that happened around 6pm, when police officers attended a property in East Moor Drive in Wolverton Mill following reports made regarding a concern for welfare.

Officers attended and found a woman in her fifties, sadly deceased in the property.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed, however formal identification and post-mortem processes are yet to take place.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed that their Major Crime Unit have launched an investigation into the incident.

As part of this, they confirmed that a 58-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

The family are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for privacy at this extremely difficult time. Thames Valley Police said that they would urge everyone to respect their wishes.

There is a scene watch set up around the property on East Moor Drive, with Thames Valley Police saying that you are more likely to see officers in the area while the investigation continues.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Sally Spencer, of the Major Crime Unit, said, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has sadly died.

“We know this incident will cause concern locally, however, we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the wider community.

“This is a complex investigation that is still in its early stages, and we are actively pursuing a number of enquiries to understand exactly what has happened.

“There will continue to be a visible police presence in the area, and we encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers at the scene.

“We would also urge people not to share speculation, particularly on social media, as we work to establish the facts surrounding this incident.”

Thames Valley Police have said that they would ask anyone with information around the incident to contact 101 quoting reference 43260258168.
