Temperatures are forecast to rise over the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend with Milton Keynes expected to see temperatures break the 30 degrees C mark.

Warm weather is forecast over the weekend, with highs of 31 degrees Celsius on the Bank Holiday Monday (25/05), as per the forecast on Friday (22/05) evening.

The latest forecast will see temperatures exceed 24 degrees C tomorrow (23/05), 27 degrees C on Sunday (24/05) and also go over 28 degrees C on Tuesday (26/05).

The Met Office has said that a spell of high pressure is bringing more settled conditions and clear skies for many in the UK. The exception will be parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland where it will be cooler and cloudier with some rain at times.

Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, Steve Kocher, said, “Temperatures will climb through the weekend, especially in the south, where 30°C is likely to be recorded on Saturday and 32°C on Sunday. Temperatures are forecast to peak on Monday when we could see 33°C recorded in southern England and the Midlands.”

The weather is part of an extreme month for weather, with frosty conditions, colder, wetter weather and temperatures struggling to exceed the 15 degrees C mark having been reported earlier this month.

The Met Office say they anticipate the conditions could exceed the all-time May temperature record somewhere in the UK. The number currently stands at 32.8°C, recorded at Camden Square in London on 22 May 1922, and then matched at weather stations in Horsham, Tunbridge Wells and London’s Regent’s Park on 29 May 1944.
