Northampton continue pre-season with home defeat to Birmingham

Northampton Town continued their preparations for the upcoming season with a 2-0 loss to Championship side Birmingham City.

Two goals by Demarai Gray won the game for the Blues, as the game ended in victory for the visitors at Sixfields.

Gray’s two goals came within 4 minutes of one another in the first half. The winger, who won a Premier League title with Leicester in 2015/16, scored one when he controlled a long ball before beating Zach Jeacock, while his second came when he tapped home at the back post.

Harvey Saunders and Dean Campbell had some chances in the first half, while Elliot List missed a late opportunity, but the Championship side would leave with the win.

Chris Hogg’s side have two more friendlies before their first competitive game, which comes in the form of a Carabao Cup tie against Leicester.
