MK Dons have confirmed a reshuffle in their coaching staff as Andy Warrington has replaced Tom Weal as the club’s first-team goalkeeper coach.
Warrington joins the club after Weal’s departure from Stadium MK to join Leicester City, where he will join the first-team set up under their new Head Coach and former Dons boss Russell Martin.
The move to hire Warrington sees him reunite with MK Dons boss Paul Warne, with Warrington having previously worked under Warne at Derby County Rotherham United. Warrington’s most recent role had seen him working for the Millers, having re-joined Rotherham in 2025 before leaving earlier this year.
As well as his time at Rotherham, Warrington has spent time coaching at Grimsby and Lincoln, after a career that saw him play as a goalkeeper for the likes of York, Doncaster, Bury, Rotherham and Grimsby.
The Dons’ Sporting Director Liam Sweeting said in a statement that he was happy to bring Warrington to the club.
He said, “We’re delighted to welcome Andy to MK Dons and to add him to Paul Warne’s coaching staff.
“Andy has an excellent track record working alongside Paul and Richie, so there is already a strong understanding of the standards, demands and environment required to help drive success.
“He also brings significant experience as a Goalkeeper Coach across both League One and the Championship, and we’re confident his knowledge and expertise will be a real asset to our goalkeepers and the wider coaching team.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Andy to the club and look forward to what we can achieve together.”
Weal had spent two separate spells in Milton Keynes. The coach had a brief spell under Mike Williamson in 2024, before leaving with Head Coach Mike Williamson when he left for Carlisle United, before Weal returned to MK ahead of last season as part of Warne’s set-up.
