On his first day as prime minister, Andy Burnham promised to lead a "cost of living government", but one of his early efforts to deal with the cost of living crisis has already come under scrutiny.

Also today, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sacks his armed forces chief days after his defence minister was dismissed, and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has asked for more money from Congress for the Iran war, admitting that it's cost more than previous estimates.
