Horizon Radio is proud to support Milton Keynes' ambitious bid to become the UK's City of Culture 2029.

The city is officially in the running for one of the country's most prestigious cultural titles, with Milton Keynes City Council leading a partnership of organisations, businesses, community groups and cultural institutions in developing the bid. If successful, the designation could unlock up to £10 million of national investment while shining a spotlight on everything that makes Milton Keynes a unique and vibrant place to live, work and visit.

Have Your Say

The organisers want to hear from the people shaping culture in Milton Keynes.  Whether you’re part of a cultural organisation or an independent creative — artist, maker, designer, hobbyist, architect, writer, poet, dancer, performer or musician — this survey is for you.

Milton Keynes has long been recognised for its innovation, creativity and forward-thinking approach. From world-famous attractions such as Bletchley Park to the city's thriving arts scene, festivals, theatres and galleries, Milton Keynes has built a reputation as one of the UK's most dynamic cultural destinations. The bid also highlights the city's modern design heritage, diverse communities and exciting future.

The city has already progressed to the longlist stage of the competition and received government funding to help develop a full application. Local residents, organisations and businesses are now being encouraged to get involved and help shape the vision for what a City of Culture year could look like in Milton Keynes.

As Milton Keynes' radio station, Horizon Radio is fully backing the campaign and encouraging listeners to show their support. The station has been championing local arts, entertainment, community events and cultural projects across the city for many years and believes the bid represents a tremendous opportunity to showcase Milton Keynes on a national stage.

A successful bid would coincide with the opening of a major new city centre venue and could help attract visitors, investment and new opportunities for local artists, performers and creative organisations. Supporters say it would also boost civic pride and help tell the story of Milton Keynes to the rest of the country.

Milton Keynes is one of just nine locations across the UK still in the running for the title, with the winner expected to be announced later this year following a detailed assessment process.

Horizon Radio will be following the progress of the bid closely and looks forward to supporting the campaign as Milton Keynes continues its journey towards becoming UK City of Culture 2029.
