A vibrant new production of the hit Broadway musical Pippin will light up the stage at the Luton Library Theatre this June—marking the first time the beloved show has ever been performed in Bedfordshire.

Presented by The Griffin Players, this exciting staging promises all the magic, music and spectacle that have made Pippin a global favourite. Featuring a dazzling score by Stephen Schwartz—including iconic songs such as Magic to Do, Corner of the Sky and Morning Glow—the production takes audiences on a colourful journey of self-discovery.

Pippin follows a young prince in search of meaning and fulfilment. Guided by a mysterious troupe of performers, he explores the temptations of glory, love, war and revolution, before discovering where true happiness may lie. This ambitious production showcases the strength of Luton’s thriving amateur theatre scene, bringing together a talented cast, creative team and live musicians to create a truly memorable theatrical experience.

Director Keith Turton said: “As a production team, we’ve wanted to stage this show for over ten years. This quirky, funny, slightly bonkers musical isn’t often performed in the UK, so it’s incredibly exciting to bring it to a new audience here in Bedfordshire.”

Musical Director Beth Thomas added:

“Pippin is a dream for any Musical Director. Its score blends infectious pop rhythms with rich theatrical storytelling in a way that still feels fresh decades later. From the driving energy of Magic to Do to the haunting beauty of Corner of the Sky, every number moves the story forward while offering real musical depth.

What makes it truly special is how the music draws both cast and audience into Pippin’s journey—searching for meaning, purpose and connection. It’s vibrant, thoughtful, and endlessly exciting to bring to life with a live ensemble.”

Packed with energetic choreography, striking visuals and unforgettable performances, Pippin is set to be a must-see event for musical theatre fans across the region. The production runs on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June, including a Saturday matinee. Tickets are available now at book.thegriffinplayers.co.uk.
