October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when communities across the UK unite to raise awareness and funds through walks, bake-offs and the familiar pink ribbons.

Encouragingly, survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years — with almost nine in ten women now living for five years or more after diagnosis, according to Breast Cancer Now.
