F1 superstar Max Verstappen to race against 100 drivers in Silverstone go-kart challenge

F1 superstar Max Verstappen is to race against 100 drivers in go-karts in a special event at Silverstone next month.

The Red Bull Racing driver will take part in the “Max vs 100” event at the British circuit on September 16th, which Red Bull say will be the largest ever go-kart race, and will feature Verstappen start at the back of the field.

During the race, Verstappen will seek to overtake a field of 100 other drivers including athletes, sports figures, drivers, and even fans in an elimination race.

The race will take place at 3pm UK time on a specially designed karting track at the venue that hosts the British Grand Prix F1 race, which has been designed for the occasion by kart designer and racing driver David Terrien, and will be streamed live on Disney+.

A full list of participants will be confirmed closer to the date.

In a statement on the Red Bull website, Verstappen said he was delighted to have another crack at karting and was looking forward to the challenge.

He said, “In go-karts you learn all the basics: starts, defending, overtaking. Of course, I spent a long period of my life go-karting, so it’s always nice to return.

“I’ve done so many years in go-karting that you quite naturally get back into things.”
