Hamill Time Again: Lightning Strike Twice as Carter Returns to MK

lifestack Milton Keynes Lightning are delighted to announce the return of forward Carter Hamill for the 2026/27 NIHL National Division season.

The 21-year-old Belfast-born forward arrives back at Planet Ice Milton Keynes following an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, one that saw him operate at two levels of the game and thrive at both. With the Solway Sharks in the NIHL, Hamill delivered a career-best season, recording 46 points (12 goals, 34 assists) across 46 regular season appearances. He also stepped up to the Elite Ice Hockey League with the Belfast Giants, making 19 EIHL appearances and contributing 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) at the highest level of British hockey.

Known league-wide for his fearless style, relentless energy, and ability to get under the skin of opponents while consistently contributing on the scoresheet, Hamill has built a reputation as a player who makes an impact every shift. His combination of grit, pace, and offensive development made him one of the standout performers at NIHL level this past season.

The Northern Ireland native is no stranger to winning in MK colours. During his previous time with the Lightning, Hamill was part of the squad that captured the NIHL Playoff Championship in 2024/25 and contributed to the Cup Championship success the season prior.

Hamill said: “I can’t wait to get back to MKL. My most memorable and favourite ice hockey years were when I wore the Lightning jersey. When the opportunity came to represent such a great club again I jumped at the chance and I’m ready to give the fans what they deserve this season, that’s nothing less than adding more lightning bolts to the club jerseys and exciting hockey every night. Lightning Head Coach Pete Russell has no doubts about what Hamill will bring to the group.

“Carter is an energy forward with grit and is coming off a career year. He plays a hard game and goes to the hard areas. He is a good character. It’s great to have him at MK again.”
