Northampton Town have announced a pre-season friendly against Southend United.
The Cobblers will make the trip to Essex on Wednesday 22nd July, with the game taking place at Southend’s Roots Hall ground.
The match will be a 7:30pm kick-off, with the Cobblers confirming that ticket details will be confirmed in due course.
Southend finished 6th in the National League play-offs last season, losing in the play-offs, while they were also winners of the FA Trophy.
Northampton’s trip to Southend is their fourth announced pre-season friendly ahead of the 2026-27 season, which begins with the Carabao Cup First Round on the weekend around Saturday August 8 and is followed by the League Two season on Saturday August 15.
The Cobblers will play Premier League newboys Coventry City on July 18th in their first confirmed friendly. Northampton’s other assignments will see them play travel to play Cambridge United on July 28th and visit Solihull Moors on August 1st, one week before the season proper starts.
