Northampton Town have signed Owen Dale, Sam Chambers and Joe Powell in a busy deadline day at Sixfields.

Dale has signed on a one-year deal after being released from Oxford, Chambers joins the Cobblers on a season-long loan from Leeds and Powell arrives on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest.

The spree means Northampton are now up to 13 new signings in the summer transfer window as part of a big summer revamp following the Cobblers’ relegation last season.

Northampton confirmed the deals ahead of their game against Crawley Town tonight, with Powell and Chambers’ signings done early enough for the two to make the bench for the match.

Dale, 27, is the senior of the three new arrivals, with the attacker having been available on a free after being released by Oxford at the end of last season. He had spent his last season contracted to the U’s out on loan with Plymouth Argyle, making 32 appearances in all competitions last season.

Before that, Dale was part of a promotion winning Oxford United in the 2024/25 campaign. He has also played in the EFL for Crewe, Blackpool and Portsmouth.

Teenage midfielder Chambers, 19, is a product of Leeds’ academy who has turned out for the Yorkshire club’s first team in cup matches last season. The deal is his first EFL move out of West Yorkshire.

Powell, 21, is making his third loan move out from the City Ground, having spent time out on loan in League 2 last season with Colchester and Fleetwood.
