MK-based Japanese and Korean restaurateurs Akasaka are closing their branch in Wolverton in Milton Keynes.

In a statement on social media, the popular indie restaurant announced the closure of their original outlet in Wolverton, which will close down after 14 years of operations. The eatery will shut down after Saturday August 22.

Akasaka confirmed their restaurants in Central Milton Keynes and Northampton will remain open for business.

In a statement, they said, “It is with heavy hearts and immense gratitude that we share this difficult news. After an unforgettable journey of 14 wonderful years, Akasaka Wolverton will be closing our doors permanently on Saturday 22nd August 2026.

“These past fourteen years have been the most precious chapter for our entire team. From our very first day opening, we have been blessed to welcome countless familiar faces, share countless meals, laughter, celebrations and quiet moments with you all. This restaurant has been more than just a business to us — it has been our home, and every one of you has been part of our family.

“It is truly heartbreaking for us to end this journey. We will deeply miss greeting our loyal customers, hearing your voices, and creating new memories with you here in Wolverton. Every visit, every kind comment, every years-long loyalty you have given us has touched our hearts deeply and kept us going through every busy and quiet day.

“We cannot express enough how grateful we are for your trust, your love and your continuous support over the past 14 years. Thank you for growing with us, for choosing us, and for making Akasaka Wolverton such a warm and special place in the local community.

“As we approach our final closing day, we would love to invite all our dear customers to visit us one last time before 22nd August. Come and enjoy your favourite dishes with us, revisit the warm moments you have shared here, and take this chance to create one last precious memory with our Akasaka Wolverton family. We would be truly honoured to serve you for the final few meals of our 14-year journey.

“Although our Wolverton branch is sadly coming to a close, we are happy to confirm that Akasaka Central Milton Keynes and Akasaka Northampton will remain fully open as usual. We sincerely hope to continue welcoming you at our other locations, where we will keep serving you with the same dedication, passion and quality you have always loved.

“Thank you once again for everything. It has been our greatest honour and privilege to serve you.”
