Former MK Dons loanee Jack Hendry played the full game as Scotland lost 3-0 to Brazil in the World Cup as their qualification hopes took a major dent.
The former Dons player was in the team for the whole game in Miami as the Tartan Army were beaten by the 5-time world champions, in a result that leaves Scotland hoping on results elsewhere to send them through as one of the tournament’s best third place teams.
Hendry played in all of Scotland’s World Cup group stage matches, having previously played in Scotland’s win over Haiti and defeat by Morocco in their first games in Group C in the tournament in the United Staes.
The 31-year-old, who now plays in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ettifaq, was involved in a moment of contention, as he was robbed by Vinicius Jr for a goal that the Real Madrid star scored, only for VAR to rule Vinicius had fouled Hendry and the goal was ruled out.
Scotland now face a wait to see if they make the cut as one of the 8 best 3rd place teams. With 9 of the World Cup’s 12 groups still to play, Scotland sit in 7th place in the third place table, having picked up 3 points but with a goal difference of -3.
Hendry had a brief cameo at MK Dons, making 12 appearances on loan at the club from Wigan Athletic during the 2016/17 season.
His career has since seen him play with Celtic, Melbourne City and Club Brugge among others, before he moved to Saudi Arabia in 2023.
