Woman charged with attempted murder after car hit pedestrians near Oxford Street

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a car hit pedestrians in central London in the early hours of Sunday.

Metropolitan Police named her as Gabrielle Carrington, 29, from Broadfield Road, Manchester.

The car hit three people in Argyll Street, near Oxford Street station and the London Palladium, at around 4.30am.

Police said a woman in her 30s was in a life-threatening condition and a man in his 50s had life-changing injuries. A third woman was treated for minor injuries.

Carrington has also been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and drink driving.

She remains in custody ahead of her first appearance at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Video of the incident appeared on social media but police said they are not treating it as a terrorist incident.
