Detectives investigating the assault of a woman in Northampton have charged a man in connection with the incident.
Matt Mellor, 40, of Wigston, Leicester, was arrested last night and has been charged with attempted rape, breach of a Sexual Offences Protection Order and possession of a bladed/pointed article.
The incident took place in Lutterworth Road, Abington, at around 1.50am on Saturday, February 26, when a man approached the woman and assaulted her.
Mr Mellor has been remanded in custody and will appear at Northampton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, February 28.
