The restaurant chain TGI Fridays has closed down a branch at the MK1 retail park opposite the MK Dons stadium.
A note was seen in front of the premises in Milton Keynes earlier this month confirming the closure of the site as of last Monday (06/07), with the decision confirmed by TGI Fridays in a separate statement to the local press.
TGI Fridays’ parent company later said the move to close the restaurant was down to a failure to agree commercial lease terms that would’ve allowed the site to remain open.
The move comes amid continued financial pressure on the restaurant company, which slimmed down its operation to 51 restaurants after a round of mass closures in 2024. A further branch at Rushden Lakes shopping centre in Northamptonshire also announced its closure this month.
TGI Fridays’ other Milton Keynes branch in Central Milton Keynes adjacent to Milton Keynes Theatre will remain open, with the company confirming this site will remain open and has no immediate plans to shut down.
