Northampton Town have announced the signing of striker Harvey Saunders from Tranmere Rovers.
Saunders joins the Cobblers on a two year deal, with the striker becoming the first new signing made by new manager Chris Hogg as the Cobblers prepare to compete in League Two next season. Northampton did not confirm if a fee was used to make the signing happen.
The deal with see the 28-year-old striker join Northampton from 1 July, with the striker moving to Sixfields after impressing on loan at Eastleigh in the National League. Saunders scored 11 times on loan with the 5th tier side in the just-completed campaign.
Saunders had joined Tranmere in 2023 from Bristol Rovers, scoring 7 in 94 games for the Wirral-based side.
Cobblers boss Hogg told the club’s official website that he was pleased to bring Saunders to Sixfields.
He said, “Harvey is a player who will add options and depth to our front line.
“He brings positional flexibility with a lot of energy and pace to run in behind and stretch defences, which is a good asset for any team to have.
“He is the sort of player who will be popular with supporters, he gives his all, leaves nothing out there, working tirelessly for the team.
“We are delighted to welcome him to the club.”
