A man has been sentenced to serve a prison sentence for the murder of his wife in Milton Keynes.

Andrew Georgiou, 45, of Holywell Place, Springfield, Milton Keynes, was jailed for a life with a minimum of 15 years and 286 days at Aylesbury Crown Court in a hearing yesterday (24/03).

At a previous hearing at the same court on 9 December last year, he had pleaded guilty to one count of murder.

In the early hours of Saturday 2 November 2024, Andrew Georgiou and his wife, Carol Georgiou, aged 42, arrived home at Holywell Place, following an evening out.

After arriving home, Carol Georgiou got into the couple’s hot tub which was located on the patio in the rear garden.

Whilst in the hot tub, Andrew Georgiou pushed and held his wife under the water causing her to drown.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Michael Roddy, of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said, “My thoughts continue to be with Carol Georgiou’s family and friends. This tragedy has had a devastating impact on Carol’s loved ones and I understand there is no sentence that can ever atone for Carol’s murder.

“After he killed Carol, Andrew Georgiou tried to cover his tracks. Forty minutes after drowning Carol in the hot tub, he called 999 claiming he had been asleep in the house and woke up to find his wife unresponsive.

“In the months preceding the murder, in the knowledge that Carol intended to go through with a divorce, Andrew placed cameras in the house and a tracking device in Carol’s vehicle to monitor her conversations and movements. He later disposed of the tracker and a camera as well as removing links to these on his mobile phone. Andrew did this to hide his involvement in Carol’s murder and to avoid any suggestion that he had exerted controlling and coercive behaviour during their marriage.

“For months Andrew lied to both his and Carol’s family, including their two sons. In truth, Andrew Georgiou deliberately killed Carol because he was enraged at their impending divorce.

“Due to the overwhelming evidence, he pleaded guilty and will now face at least more than 15 in jail before he can be considered for parole.

“This case demonstrates Thames Valley Police’s commitment to investigating violence against women and girls. If you are a victim of violence then please be reassured that we have specially trained officers who will listen and support you.”
