Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest of 4 teenagers in Milton Keynes following reports of a group being seen with weapons.
The incident happened at around 5.20pm last Thursday (30/04), when officers were called to McConnell Drive in Wolverton, close to the McDonald’s and Tesco in the town, following reports of a group that had been seen with weapons.
Armed officers attended the scene, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS), and a knife was recovered and seized by police.
A 16-year-old boy from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, while a 17-year-old boy and two 15-year-old boys from Milton Keynes were arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place
The 16-year-old boy and both 15-year-old boys have been released from police custody on conditional bail, while the 17-year-old boy remained in custody as of Friday (01/05).
In their statement, Thames Valley Police said they were seeking to reassure the community regarding the incident.
They said, “We recognise that the presence of armed police and the helicopter may have been concerning for those in the area, but we would like to reassure the community that we do not currently believe there to be any ongoing risk to the public.
“You may see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are ongoing and we encourage anyone with concerns or questions to please speak to officers.
“Anyone who saw what happened or has dash cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the incident is asked to please call us on 101 quoting reference 43260212343.
“We just wanted to confirm that this incident is not connected to any other incident reported to police yesterday evening.”
