Together for good – 6th to 14th June 2026

Residents across Leighton-Linslade are being invited to get involved in Great Big Green Week, a nationwide celebration of community action to tackle climate change, protect nature and create a greener future for everyone.

Running throughout June, Great Big Green Week brings together local organisations, volunteers, community groups and residents for a programme of events designed to inspire positive environmental action while showcasing the many ways people can make a difference in their everyday lives. The national theme for 2026 is “Together for Good”, highlighting the power of communities working collectively to create lasting change.

The Leighton-Linslade programme features a variety of activities aimed at helping people connect with nature, learn new skills and discover practical ways to live more sustainably. From educational talks and film screenings to competitions and community-led initiatives, there are opportunities for people of all ages and interests to take part. Highlights include screenings of environmental films, a talk exploring the birds of Bedfordshire, a local photography competition and a range of activities organised by groups from across the town.

Great Big Green Week is the UK’s largest celebration of community action for nature and climate. Every year, thousands of events take place in towns, cities and villages across the country, encouraging people to come together and take positive action for their local environment. In 2025, more than one million people took part nationwide, demonstrating the growing appetite for community-led environmental initiatives.

The Leighton-Linslade programme reflects the community spirit that has become synonymous with Great Big Green Week. By bringing together local groups, businesses and residents, the initiative provides a platform to share ideas, celebrate achievements and inspire future action.

Whether you are already passionate about environmental issues or simply curious about how you can make a difference, Great Big Green Week offers a welcoming opportunity to get involved, meet like-minded people and discover practical ways to support a greener future.
