Man charged with murder after body found at stone circle following summer solstice

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 26-year-old in the Peak District last week, police said.

Derbyshire Constabulary were called to reports of a man's body being found in the area of the Nine Ladies Stone Circle in Stanton Lees, Derbyshire, at 1.38pm on 22 June.

Isaac Clare-Watts, 26, was declared dead at the scene.

Szymon Babynko, of Commonwealth Way, London, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident.

The 23-year-old Polish national has now been charged with murder.

He was also charged with attempted murder in relation to an incident in Chesterfield on Thursday.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Derby Magistrates Court on Monday.

Nine Ladies Stone Circle is part of a complex of prehistoric circles and standing stones on Stanton Moor.

Most of these are thought to date from the Bronze Age, around 3,000 to 4,000 years ago, according to the English Heritage website.

The discovery of Mr Clare-Watts' body came after the celebration on 21 June of the summer solstice, which falls on the longest day of the year.
