business and one clear goal in mind,  helping bring silverware back to the club.

Liam first joined the Lightning midway through the 2019/20 season and quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the team, both on and off the ice. Over four seasons in Milton Keynes, before taking a two-year break from the club, Stewart recorded more than 250 points in over 170 appearances, cementing his place as one of the most impactful players to wear the Lightning jersey in recent years.

His return adds experience, leadership and a fierce competitive edge to Pete Russell’s roster ahead of the new campaign. Renowned for his relentless work ethic, physical style of play and ability to step up in key moments, Stewart is the type of player who sets the tone every night. Whether contributing offensively, winning battles in the tough areas, or leading by example, “Disco” brings a level of intensity that lifts those around him.

Lightning Head Coach Pete Russell is excited to welcome Stewart back to the locker room.

“Liam is a leader and is hungry to get going again. He has real natural compete and plays in the hard areas. Liam is a 200ft player who can change a game when required. It’s great to have him at MK again. I’m looking forward to having Liam on the team this season.”

Stewart is equally excited to return to Planet Ice Milton Keynes and reconnect with the fans ahead of what he has confirmed will be his final season in the game.

“I can’t wait to get back to MK and see everybody. I wish I could have stayed back in December but I had prior commitments. Seeing as it will be my final year, all I want to do is win some silverware. I hope all the boys are bought in and ready to go come September. See you guys soon – Disco”

With a wealth of experience and a proven track record in Milton Keynes, Stewart’s return represents another significant addition as the Lightning continue to build towards an exciting 2026/27 campaign.

The countdown to September is underway, and with Disco back in Lightning colours, supporters can look forward to seeing one of the club’s most popular and influential players back where he belongs.
