Pink Punters nightclub in Milton Keynes evacuated after major fire

The Pink Punters nightclub in Milton Keynes was evacuated after a major overnight fire.

Fire broke out in the venue around 2am this morning (26/04), with the site on Watling Street in the Fenny Stratford area of the city evacuated of all punters.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed their officers attended the incident, stating that all people were evacuated and no injuries were confirmed.

In an incident update on social media at around 3:20am this morning, Thames Valley Police said they confirmed their officers attended the situation.

They said, “Our officers are on scene in support of Bucks and MK Fire and Rescue at a fire at the Pink Punters night club. All people have been evacuated and no one has been injured.

“A road closure is in place on the V4 and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

“We would ask residents in the area to close windows and doors due to smoke from the fire. It is likely that we will be on scene for a number of hours while the fire is dealt with, we thank everyone for their patience.”

Social media footage appeared to show significant damage to the venue, although a full assessment has not yet been announced.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue confirmed 12 fire crews from fire stations across the region attended the blaze.

In an update at 7:30am this morning, the fire service said,” Cordons have been put in place, and our crews are expected to remain on scene for a considerable amount of time. We are working with Thames Valley Police, South Central Ambulance Service and onsite staff.

“The building was evacuated. Our crews are working extremely hard, and we’ll provide further updates when we have more confirmed information.

“Our advice to the public is to still avoid the area and to local residents, please keep windows and doors closed to avoid breathing in smoke generated by the fire.”

The incident is a second major fire in quick succession in Fenny Stratford after St Martin’s church on Aylesbury Street was damaged by a fire at around 12:10am on Saturday morning (25/04).

Firefighters used two hose reel jets, one main jet, a 10.5 metre ladder, lighting and a thermal imaging camera, and also isolated the gas and electric supply in dealing with that incident. Crews also reinspected the building at approximately 6am to check for hot spots.

The church confirmed that while fire damaged part of the site, the main body of the church was spared and has been prepared for a Mass service later today.
