Northampton Town have confirmed several players will leave the club as they published their retained list.
Following a deeply disappointing campaign for the Cobblers as they finished bottom of League One and were relegated to League Two after 3 seasons in the third tier, Northampton have published the EFL-mandated retained list.
The club confirmed that Jordan Willis, Tom Eaves, Theo Avery, Kyle Edwards, Josh Tomlinson and Matty Ireland will not be offered new contracts and that all of these players will now be leaving Northampton.
Michael Jacobs and Jack Vale have been initially confirmed as departing but that the club do have an option on the two players. The club said they will consider whether to activate this once a new manager is appointed.
Jake Evans, Michael Forbes, Terry Taylor, Kyle McAdam and Ben Hammond will be returning to their parent clubs upon the expiry of loan deals at Sixfields. Since the publication of Northampton’s list, it has been confirmed that Taylor will be released by his current parent club Charlton Athletic.
Lee Burge, Sam Hoskins, Cameron McGeehan, Nesta Guinness-Walker, James Dadge and Neo Dobson are first team players who have all been offered new deals for next season.
Jack Burroughs, Conor McCarthy, Dean Campbell, Jon Guthrie, Elliott List, Kamarai Swyer, Tyrese Fornah, Joe Wormleighton, Jack Perkins, Elliott Moore, Liam Shaw, Ross Fitzsimons and Max Dyche remain under contract with the club for the 2026/27 season. Guthrie was a player where Northampton took up an option to extend their deal.
In a brief statement, the Cobblers said, “Northampton Town Football Club would like to place on record its thanks to all departing players for their time at the club and wish them every success for the future.”
