Northampton Town will begin the 2026/27 season with a home match against Swindon Town at Sixfields.
The Cobblers’ first competitive game under new boss Chris Hogg and their return to League Two will see them welcome a Swindon side who missed out on the play-offs last season. The game will take place on Saturday August 15th as a 3pm kick-off.
The match will be Northampton’s first match against Swindon since their promotion-winning 2022/23 campaign.
After that, Northampton’s first away day of the season will see them travel to play Crewe Alexandra, before their August ends with another away day as they visit Gillingham in Kent. It’s then followed by home games against Crawley and Newport at the start of September.
Over the Christmas period, Northampton will have a Boxing Day away match at Chesterfield. Their final game before Christmas is at home to Exeter City, while Northampton will finish 2026 with a home meeting with Cheltenham Town. The first match of 2027 will be against Bristol Rovers on New Year’s Day.
Northampton’s reverse fixture against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium will take place on Good Friday on March 26th, with the second part of the Easter double header seeing the Cobblers welcome Chesterfield to Sixfields on Easter Monday.
The final match of the League 2 season will see Northampton visit Fleetwood Town in Lancashire on Saturday May 8th, with their last home game of the campaign being against Walsall one week before.
The fixture list is subject to change pending TV selections and any postponements related to the weather or other competitions.
The announcement comes on part of a busy day of EFL-related announcements, with the Carabao Cup First Round draw and the EFL Trophy’s allocation of academy sides being made later today (25/06).
