A new community event aiming to raise money for local charity Willen Hospice is taking place at Willen Lake this weekend.
Love Willen is a brand-new community event created in partnership between Willen Lake and Willen Hospice taking place on Saturday 23 May, running between 9am-5pm.
Visitors are invited to take part in a day full of free family activities, sponsored swims, a 5k family fun walk, food, community stalls and plenty more – all while raising vital funds for local hospice care.
Activities below will run on a first come, first served basis from 11am – 1pm. They include the Splash ‘N’ Play – free sessions at 11am and 12pm (45 minutes each), the Treetop Explorer Course, the Treetop Drop, Adventure Golf, Pedalos, Zorb Arena and the Gel Blaster Zone.
Also available are two special charity swim sessions where visitors can swim in the lake. Session 1 starts at 9:30am, while session 2 beings at 10:00am.
Each session takes place on a 300m open water course, suitable for both confident beginners and experienced swimmers. Participants can complete as many 300m laps as they wish within their session time.
Pre‑booking is essential as spaces are limited.
A Family Fundraising Walk will also take place from 1pm, which takes the form of a relaxed 4K walk suitable for all ages. Along the route, enjoy activity stops with puzzles, games, and mini‑challenges – children can collect stamps as they go. Adult entry: £10. Each entry includes two free child places
All proceeds support Willen Hospice, who are looking to raise funds in support of their mission to help provide expert, compassionate care for local people.
There will also be an assortment of community stalls, where you can meet and chat with a variety of local groups, charities and organisations who work year‑round to support wellbeing and community life across Milton Keynes.
Food and drink is provided at vendors such as Good Times Café, A1 Donuts, One4Six Coffee & Ice Cream and Willen Lake Café.
