Willen Hospice is opening a new clearance outlet in Stacey Bushes, with every item priced at £1, £3 or £5. The new shop, opening on Thursday 15 January, forms part of the charity’s retail expansion in Milton Keynes and will help fund hospice care for local people.
Located at the front of Stacey Bushes Trading Centre on Erica Road, the outlet will stock a wide range of men’s and women’s clothing, alongside homewares. Doors open at 9.30am, and customers will benefit from free on-site parking.
The shop will also include a concession from Off The Record, Willen Hospice’s independent music store based in central Milton Keynes, bringing a smaller selection of vinyl and music-related items into the clearance space.
Ian Palmer, associate director of retail at Willen Hospice, said the new outlet introduces a different approach to charity retail in the area.
“This isn’t just another shop – it’s a game-changing clearance concept that’s new to Milton Keynes and new to Willen Hospice,” said Ian. “We’re giving unsold items one last chance to find a home before recycling, while creating a bold and affordable retail experience.”
He added: “By shopping here, people are directly helping to keep our life-changing care completely free for patients. This outlet is about making a big impact through small prices.”
Providing specialist hospice care for people with a life-limiting illness costs Willen Hospice £11 million each year. However, ongoing NHS funding covers only 12.7% of that total, meaning income from charity shops remains one of the organisation’s most reliable sources of funding.
As a result, money raised through the Stacey Bushes outlet will help support patients and families across Milton Keynes, while also encouraging more sustainable shopping habits.
The clearance outlet follows the successful opening of Willen Hospice’s larger Stony Stratford shop in November. Further new shops are planned, with locations in Oxley Park opening in January and Brooklands scheduled for February.
Willen Hospice is also recruiting volunteers to support its growing retail operation. Roles include sorting donations, preparing stock, and helping customers in-store.
Anyone interested in volunteering can visit willen-hospice.org.uk/volunteer-in-retail or call 01908 306998. Updates on shop openings, events and promotions are shared via Willen Hospice Shops on Facebook and Instagram.
