The bakery chain Gail’s has announced they will be opening a branch at Midsummer Place in Milton Keynes.

Gail’s is to open an outlet as part of the redevelopment of the Oak Court area of the shopping centre adjacent to Kokoro and the former Barclays unit.

The artisan bakery brand is set to open at the centre later this year, with opening dates to be confirmed. Founded in London in 2005, Gail’s has become one of the UK’s most recognisable premium bakery brands, known for its handcrafted breads, pastries, sandwiches and speciality coffee.

The arrival of Gail’s forms part of other redevelopment works in Midsummer Place that are currently taking place within the former New Look and Hollister units. These works will create one large new retail destination, also expected to open later this year.

Midsummer Place said that the latest phase of investment continues the ongoing transformation of the shopping centre, which has already seen a number of significant improvements and refurbishment. Recent developments include the introduction of new food cabins along The Boulevard, the refurbishment and reopening of HSBC, upgrades to the Tesla showroom, the refurbishment of Hollister, and New Look relocating into the former GAP unit.

Simon Martin, Centre Manager at Midsummer Place, said, “This is an incredibly exciting time for the centre as we continue to see major developments and investment taking place across Midsummer Place. The arrival of GAIL’s is another fantastic addition and reflects the continued confidence in Milton Keynes city centre.

“These latest works form part of the ongoing development and evolution of the centre as we continue enhancing the visitor experience and introducing new brands and opportunities. There is a real sense of momentum around Midsummer Place and we’re looking forward to sharing more announcements in the coming months.”
