Every Sunday night at midnight, Horizon Radio serves up a musical feast with Paul Gray’s Soul Stew. It’s the ultimate late-night soundtrack – the very best in classic soul, timeless Motown, and just a dash of disco to keep the groove alive.
Paul Gray is a true legend of the UK soul scene. One of the few DJs to ever make the Motown freebies list, he was a regular behind the decks at the iconic California Ballroom in Dunstable during the early to mid-70s, earning the venue its nickname of “Soul City.” He also spun records at Aquarius Night Club, The Greyhound, Truman Gateway, Disc-a-Dine, and Drill Hall in Luton – often competing with Radio One DJs, topless dancers, and drag acts for the crowd’s attention!
After stepping back in 1978, Paul returned to the scene in the 2000s, armed with his trusty box of 45s and a passion for keeping Northern Soul alive. Since then, he has presented soul shows across the UK and abroad, including stints on Black Cat Radio, Cambridge City Radio, Rock FM Cyprus, and more, building a worldwide following for Soul Stew.
Now every Sunday at midnight, Paul brings his encyclopaedic knowledge, infectious passion, and unmistakable style to Horizon Radio. Expect floor-fillers, forgotten gems, and those Motown classics that never lose their shine.
Join Paul Gray for Soul Stew – Sunday nights from midnight on Horizon Radio. Classic soul, Motown magic, and a touch of disco… the perfect recipe.
