In this episode of the Being Human / Chiropractic Revolution podcast, Dr Alun Walker speaks with chiropractor Dr Kris Harm about his remarkable journey from Sweden to building a successful chiropractic career in the United Kingdom.

Kris reflects on how a serious gymnastics injury at the age of sixteen introduced him to chiropractic for the first time and changed the course of his life. After studying at the Scandinavian Chiropractic College, he moved to London in the late 1990s with determination but very little support, learning the realities of running a chiropractic practice through experience, persistence and curiosity.

The conversation explores the challenges many new chiropractors face when leaving university, particularly the lack of business training and mentorship available early in their careers. Kris explains how those experiences motivated him to create a support network for students and new graduates, helping them develop both the practical and philosophical foundations needed to succeed in practice.

They also discuss the role of chiropractic philosophy, the famous 33 principles, and why understanding the bigger picture of health and wellbeing can transform both the practitioner and the patient experience. Kris shares how conferences, podcasts, books and community learning have shaped his approach, as well as the influence of mentors and colleagues throughout his career.

Along the way, the discussion touches on writing books, creating resources for patients, the relationship between food and health, and the importance of curiosity, personal development and continuous learning within the profession.

This episode offers valuable insight for chiropractic students, new graduates and experienced practitioners alike, highlighting the power of mentorship, community and a lifelong commitment to growth.

Kat graduated in 2007 with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from Northumbria University in Newcastle and started her career with two years specialising in the rehabilitation of people with scoliosis and hyperkyphosis.

From there she moved to a company called Halsa and served as their head physio for 10 years, recruiting and training the physio and sports therapy team to be 20 practitioners strong over 8 sites who worked closely alongside the chiropractors. In this time she also did her dry needling and clinical Pilates qualifications which still form an important part of her practice.

Kat opened her own practice, Lake Therapy in Farnham, in February 2019 alongside her husband, Dan. Despite the interruptions of Covid, they have built to a team of 8 physio and graduate sports therapy associates, together serving the local community with physio and rehab services.

Kat now runs her practice alongside making guest appearances at conferences and clinic trainings, and providing 1:1 coaching to other therapists and clinic owners who are looking to grow their diaries

Danny Scarhill returns to Being Human and Chiropractic Revolution for an in-depth follow-up conversation with Dr Alun Walker, diving deeper into chiropractic business, mindset, and professional growth. In this episode, Danny unpacks the thinking behind his rapidly growing Chiropractic Associate Mastery programme, explaining who it’s for, how it works, and why so many associates and practice owners feel unsupported once they qualify.

The conversation explores Danny’s three published books, including Total Health Transformation, 80/20 Chiropractic, and his latest collaborative release drawn from the Chiropractic Mindset Mastery podcast. Danny shares how he writes by voice, the discipline behind publishing at speed, and why modern chiropractors must continually adapt while staying true to chiropractic principles.

A major focus of the episode is mindset mastery, meditation, breathwork, journalling, and Danny’s concept of “gratitude on steroids”. He explains how daily intention-setting, emotional awareness, and structured reflection can dramatically improve clarity, performance, and wellbeing in both practice and life. Danny also traces his own meditation journey, from Transcendental Meditation to long-term daily practice, and how this underpins his coaching approach.

Listeners will also hear the full breakdown of the Chiropractic Associate Mastery curriculum, including day one and day two mastery, spinal screenings, business development, speaking skills, networking, retention, and building a sustainable career inside someone else’s practice. Danny reveals how the programme went from idea to full launch in a matter of weeks, enrolling multiple chiropractors almost immediately.

The episode closes with details on Danny’s upcoming webinar, live training event in South Yorkshire, free breakthrough consultations, and how chiropractors at any stage can get support, clarity, and direction. A practical, motivating and honest conversation for associates, practice owners, and anyone serious about long-term success in chiropractic.

In this energising episode of Being Human, host Alun Walker welcomes back two hugely influential figures in modern chiropractic: Donald Francis and Laurie Coburn. Together they unpack the thinking, philosophy and practical frameworks behind Luminate, their fast-growing coaching and training movement supporting chiropractors, CA teams and new graduates across the UK and beyond.

Donald explains the origins of brain-based chiropractic, outlining how human adaptation, stress and predictable neurological patterns create a clear, principled model for care. Laurie shares how culture, community and connection sit at the heart of thriving practices—especially in rural areas where relationships matter just as much as technique.

They discuss how Luminate’s Success Formula was built, why mindset sits at the top of the hierarchy, and how values, certainty and communication shape real patient transformation. From supporting new graduates who are nervous to adjust, to helping associates step into confidence, to guiding seasoned chiropractors through practice restructuring, both guests speak honestly about growth, mistakes, learning curves and the power of mentorship.

The trio also look ahead to the future of chiropractic amid GCC changes, sharing their belief that truth, clarity and principled communication will guide the profession through any regulatory shift.

Uplifting, funny and full of practical insight, this episode offers inspiration for chiropractors at every stage of their journey—and a compelling glimpse into the heart of what makes Luminate such a transformative force.

In this episode of Being Human, host Alun Walker welcomes back chiropractor, mentor and long-time friend Mike Paul for an enlightening and deeply grounded conversation. Together they dive into the heart of chiropractic philosophy, exploring why the body’s innate ability to heal itself remains the foundation of the profession—especially in a time of regulatory change and shifting expectations within the field.

Mike shares powerful stories from practice, including memorable lessons from his daughter, his patients and the chiropractors who shaped him. He opens up about the teachers who inspired him from university through to postgraduate mentorship, and how those influences helped him develop a clearer, more principled understanding of chiropractic.

Alun and Mike discuss the role of philosophy in modern practice, the impact of the GCC’s changes, why truth and authenticity matter, and how to communicate the essence of chiropractic to patients in a way that resonates. They also explore mentorship—how it shaped both of their careers, the value it brings to young chiropractors, and what distinguishes personal, spiritual and business-focused coaching.

The conversation then turns to open-plan versus closed-room practice, the pros and cons of working with or without a team, and how personality, temperament and values should guide new chiropractors when choosing their path. Mike shares what he’s learned from running different clinic models and why working solo now gives him clarity, focus and a deeper connection with the people he serves.

Whether you’re a seasoned chiropractor, a student preparing to graduate, or someone fascinated by the human body’s innate wisdom, this episode offers rich insights, humour, and an honest look at the evolution of a chiropractic career.

In this wide-ranging and honest conversation, Dr Alun Walker welcomes chiropractor, coach and author Danny Scarhill to Chiropractic Revolution and Being Human. Danny shares his remarkable journey from a football-mad teenager in Liverpool, through osteopathy and chiropractic training, to running a successful practice and now mentoring the next generation of chiropractors.

They explore the realities of chiropractic education, the gap between qualification and real-world practice, and why so many associates feel underprepared for business, communication and patient retention. Danny discusses his vitalistic philosophy, the influence of key mentors, and how personal life changes led him to sell his clinic and refocus on coaching.

The episode also dives into Chiropractic Associate Mastery, Danny’s new programme designed to train associates and principals in business skills, confidence, speaking, workshops and long-term patient care. Along the way, there’s reflection on family, resilience, professional purpose, and what it really means to invest in yourself.

A thoughtful, practical and inspiring listen for chiropractors, associates, students and anyone interested in being human while building a meaningful career.

In this episode, Donald shares his unique journey from the military trenches to the serene landscapes of the Scottish borders, where he established Tweed Chiropractic Clinic, a haven for those seeking transformative care.

As a former officer in the Royal Artillery and a globe-trotter born in Zimbabwe, Donald brings a diverse perspective to the chiropractic profession. Reflecting on his military years, Donald highlights the profound impact it had on shaping his character and values, emphasizing the transformative journey from soldier to healer.

Despite his Zimbabwean roots, Donald's lack of a distinct Scottish accent intrigues Dr. Walker, leading to a delightful exploration of identity and belonging. With over 30 years in Scotland and a thriving chiropractic practice, Donald's journey embodies the fusion of cultures and experiences that define modern chiropractic care.

Delving into his chiropractic philosophy, Donald emphasizes the artistry and individuality inherent in the practice. Rejecting rigid dogma, he embraces a holistic approach that celebrates the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. Drawing from his extensive experience with techniques like Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) and cranial work, Donald highlights the importance of adaptability and diversity in achieving optimal patient outcomes.

Intrigued by Donald's holistic approach, Dr. Walker explores the essence of chiropractic as a philosophy rather than a mere healing modality. Donald eloquently articulates chiropractic's core principles, emphasizing its focus on the nervous system and spine as gateways to holistic health and well-being.

Throughout the conversation, Donald's passion for chiropractic shines brightly, illuminating the transformative potential of this profound healing art.
The podcast delves into various intriguing subjects, exploring the depths of human potential and growth. A thought-provoking and enlightening discussion on various aspects of human existence, from unlocking children's superpowers to understanding the significance of quality sleep and exploring the rich history of medicinal practices.

Daz Holroyd, a multifaceted individual, shares his expertise in several fascinating areas. He begins by discussing his experience teaching children through the power of intuition. Daz has discovered a unique technique that helps children hone their natural superpowers before they undergo puberty. By tapping into their creativity and imagination, children can develop extraordinary abilities to read, write, and even play catch while blindfolded. The process involves a 10-week course that unlocks their intuition and enhances their self-confidence, providing valuable skills they can carry with them throughout their lives.

The conversation then shifts to the topic of sleep behaviors, an area Daz is deeply passionate about. He emphasizes the importance of quality sleep and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule. By following circadian rhythms and practicing nasal breathing, individuals can significantly improve their sleep patterns and overall well-being. Daz shares how he has personally experienced the transformative power of a well-established sleep routine, leading to increased energy levels, mental clarity, and emotional balance.

He also shares his fascination with the history of medicine, particularly the use of psilocybin over the centuries. He explains that psilocybin, a natural psychoactive compound found in certain mushrooms, has been used for medicinal and spiritual purposes by various cultures throughout history. He highlights its potential benefits for general practitioners in helping patients with various illnesses.

Throughout the podcast, Alun and Daz recount their meeting at a festival in Oxford and discuss their mutual interests and journeys in exploring the depths of human potential. They exchange personal anecdotes, including instances of intuition and unexplained phenomena, leading to a broader discussion on the re-emergence of ancient practices in the modern world.
