Luton Town made it back-to-back home wins after a 2-1 victory over Bradford City at Kenilworth Road.

Jake Richards and Shayden Morris scored the goals that won the match for Jack Wilshere’s Hatters, with Stephen Humphrys scoring for Bradford in the final minute.

Success means Luton are unbeaten in 10 home games, with the Hatters moving up to 7th in the League One table. They are 4 points behind the Bantams, who now sit in the last play-off spot and are the team directly above Luton in the table.

Luton made the quicker start against the side from West Yorkshire, with Jordan Clark denied by Sam Walker in the early stages of the contest.

Bradford would miss a great chance to take the lead, however, as Jenson Metcalfe missed the target from close range.

Clark would then hit the bar as Luton pressed, and the home side opened the scoring after 39 minutes. Richards picked up the ball before firing a low strike into the back of the net from just outside the box.

Kayden Jackson missed the target from close range just after half-time, but although the Bantams had made some progress in pursuing an equaliser, the home side instead would move 2-0 up within ten minutes of the restart.

It was Morris who grabbed the goal, as the winger received Clark’s through pass before beating Walker with the low shot to double the home side’s advantage.

Josh Keeley in the Luton goal made a fine save to deny Bradford’s Ethan Wheatley, with the home keeper also called into action to thwart Humphrys.

Luton would have chances of their own to make it 3-0 and truly end the contest, with Walker making saves to deny Clark and Kasey Palmer.

Bradford did grab themselves a goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time as Humphrys was able to finish from close range, and the Bantams would see Metcalfe fire over at the end, but the visitors ran out of time in their attempts to deny Luton the three points.

Luton will now turn their attention to amending their troubled away form, having not won an away match since early November. They face a difficult match in their next assignment on Valentine’s Day however, as they travel to play the league leaders Cardiff City.
