Pickles Pet Pantry’s Cani-Run Club, a dog fit qualified club is celebrating its first birthday this month, marking a year of remarkable growth, community connection, and life-changing impact for both dogs and their owners.
Launched in 2024, the club has quickly become a supportive hub for canicross enthusiasts of all levels—from nervous rescue dogs taking their first strides to high-energy speedsters chasing new personal bests. With inclusive Trek-2-Run sessions and weekly Sunday Cani Social Fun Runs, the club provides a judgement-free space where dogs and humans can build confidence, improve fitness, and enjoy the mental health benefits of structured outdoor exercise.
For many members, the Cani-Run Club has become far more than a fitness group.
“Joining Katie and Jack’s canicross group has genuinely changed everything for both me and Boots,” said member Charlie. “After losing my dad, I really struggled, and having something positive to focus on has honestly saved my life. Boots has come such a long way too… she absolutely loves canicross!”
Fellow member Charlie-Jade shared a similar experience:
“I’ve tried starting and quitting running many times, but Pickles is the first club I ever joined that I didn’t know I needed. My girl has grown in confidence, and even my nervous chihuahua mix enjoys himself far more than I expected. It’s brought so much more to us than I ever imagined.”
Looking Ahead: Expanding the Pack in 2026
As Pickles Pet Pantry’s Cani-Run Club enters its second year, the team has bold plans for expansion.
Goals include:
- Welcoming even more dogs and humans into the canicross community
- Hosting the club’s first official Pickles race
- Collaborating with local businesses and support services, including Top Physio, to offer specialist care tailored to
- the sport
Continuing their partnership with local photographer Sniper Snaps to capture members’ progress and milestones.
The vision is to create not just a running club, but a comprehensive support network that keeps both dogs and
humans safe, healthy, and thriving.
“Pickles Cani Club was born organically through our love of running with our dogs,” said founders Katie and Jack.
“Being able to extend this to others feels incredibly special to us and to Pickles Pet Pantry. It’s something we’re very
proud of.”
With a mission rooted in community, wellbeing, and celebrating achievements of every size—from a first 5K to a
newfound canine confidence - they invite new members to discover the joy of canicross.
