Peterborough replace Bristol City as opponent for MK Dons in pre-season friendly

MK Dons have confirmed they will be playing a home friendly against Peterborough United rather than one against Bristol City as previously planned.

The Dons will be playing the League One side in a friendly on July 22nd with a 7:30pm kick-off time, with Posh taking the slot previously occupied by Bristol City.

The match will be the Dons’ only pre-season friendly at Stadium MK, with their other commitments booked ahead of the season starting on August 2nd all taking place away from home.

MK Dons will still have a match against Bristol City coming up, with the Dons scheduled to visit the Robins’ Ashton Gate stadium in the Carabao Cup in early August.

In a brief statement, the Dons said, “MK Dons would like to thank Peterborough United for their cooperation and providing such a quick resolution.”

The match will be the Dons’ first meeting with Peterborough since the two sides were in League One in the 2022/23 season.

Peterborough finished 18th in League One last season but did achieve success in the EFL Trophy, with Posh beating League One’s runaway champions Birmingham City 2-0 at Wembley in the Vertu Trophy final to win the competition for the second season in a row.

In their news confirming the fixture change, MK Dons confirmed that tickets already purchased for the original opposition remain valid, meaning those who’d already secured their seat for the game won’t have to take further action. Supporters who wish to return tickets will be entitled to a refund and can visit the Stadium MK box office to do so.

Bristol City confirmed the news on their end with a statement by saying, “Following the Carabao Cup draw last week, both clubs have agreed the friendly match between City and MK Dons will no longer take place on Tuesday, July 22nd.

“Any supporters who have purchased coach tickets will be entitled to a refund and can contact the club to receive this.”
